This piece reflects the quiet bond I shared with my father, Ian Hannaford, who inherited my grandfather’s fishing book with thease drawings after his passing in 1977. Though often busy, Dad took me on special fishing trips that became less about the catch and more about connection—revealing his love for the sea and his deeper, contemplative side.
Years later, I rediscovered the long-lost fishing book and began weaving James’s pencil marks and weathered pages into my own work. These pieces are ultimately about legacy, memory, and the threads linking three generations.
