Celebrating a life through Art
Visual Legacy Artworks is an intimate, custom art experience that transforms personal and ancestral stories or relationships into evocative, lasting works of art.
Rooted in deep listening, archival exploration, and a reverence for memory, each piece is more than a portrait — it’s a visual distillation of a life, a lineage, or a love.
Whether honouring a family matriarch, celebrating a sacred friendship, or giving form to generations past, these artworks serve as emotional time capsules—rich with symbol, texture, and spirit.

The process
Through conversation, shared photographs, letters, heirlooms, or stories, I work collaboratively to uncover the essence of the subject/s. Then, using paint, assemblage, or mixed media, I shape that story into a layered visual artwork — one that feels lived, not manufactured.

The result
The result is a one-of-a-kind art piece: personal, tactile, and deeply resonant.
Something to hang, yes — but it may evolve as an interactive mixed media installation, or a visual time capsule created from personal items, family artifacts, or heirlooms.

Ideal for:
-
Individuals exploring their ancestry or family legacy
-
Couples wanting to honour their relationship.
-
Loved ones seeking a tribute to someone passed
-
Families seeking a generational heirloom.
Examples of Works
Legacy Brief: Grandson recognising his grandfather's life for future generations while preserving old fishing stories and techniques before GPS
Artwork: Three-dimensional 900mm x 1,200mm mixed media framed artwork utilising real artifacts and documents for the person celebrated.
Title: Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way — 1940s
This artwork celebrates Sir James Holden, a wartime engineer turned devoted fisherman. After converting the Holden factory to build aircraft parts in WWII, he retired to Kangaroo Island, living simply and mapping secret fishing spots long before GPS.
Incorporating sketches from his original fishing book, I overlaid a natural history-style drawing of the Sweep, caught on the very fishing ground depicted in the artwork.
The intersecting lines, hand-drawn Holden motorcar badge, and royal coat of arms from his knighthood echo a legacy shaped by quiet determination and his guiding belief: with enough will, there’s always a way.
The final artwork was presented with a full written description that was eventually framed with the artwork

Legacy Brief: To paint a surprise milestone birthday gift to celebrate a joint love of place, and personal connection.
Artwork: Our Happy Place - 400mm × 300mm Oil on Canvas
1. Brief & Collaboration
Commissioned as a surprise milestone birthday gift, the client wanted to capture their favourite place — Snelling Beach on Kangaroo Island — and include their beloved dog, Benji. We discussed the feeling of warmth, freedom, and connection to the location where they both feel most at peace.
2. Reference & Composition
There wasn’t a single photo that captured everything we needed, so I drew from four personal images—three of the beach and one of Benji. By combining key elements from each, I created a cohesive, sunlit composition that balanced the landscape with the gentle play of light and shadow.
3. Final Artwork
The result is a meaningful artwork that reflects a couple’s connection to each other and place—a lasting, personal gift crafted from memory and intention.
